January 2007
Friends,
The Winter Quarter begins, bringing
exciting developments in the College's history. Each quarter
our student enrollment is on the rise, and there are increased
opportunities for both graduate and undergraduate students.
It is in the international arena where I see the most development in the
last couple of months. Business and public administration students
may study with partner institutions around the world this summer, with
special emphasis in Fulda, Germany and Taiwan.
Best
wishes, Karen Dill Bowerman,

that's your neighbors and customers." On January 16,

In Memory of Public
Administration graduate student Randy Lally:
Randy Lally, CSUSB alumni and current graduate student in public administration, passed away in an
auto accident December 25. He served as a fleet manager at JB Hunt
trucking in San Bernardino. An energetic, likeable, quick‑witted
professional, Randy’s desire to use his public administration education
to serve his community fueled a quest for public office. Randy ran
for a seat on the San Bernardino City Council in November 2006. Although
unsuccessful in his first attempt, he impressed many people with his
ability to organize a good campaign with few resources. He was
known as a friendly, down-to-earth person keenly interested in how to
contribute to improve the lives of ordinary people. Additionally,
his family reports he loved to coach baseball. Fellow students and
public administration faculty within the College of Business and Public
Administration will remember Randy fondly. The photo is courtesy of

Message from Dr. Kuan Chen, M.D. and Chair of Taiwan Program
Advisory Board
Dear Alumni, Students, Colleagues, and Friends,
Following this joyful holiday season, I would like to take this
opportunity to wish you a Happy and Propsperous 2007. Since we
started the Taiwan Program in 2006, under the leadership of Dean
Karen Bowerman and Advisory Board, especially the hard work of our
program director Nancy Fu, several hundred students, alumni, and
business leaders have joined our program. Currently we are
networking our school, students, alumni, faculty, and business
community in the U.S. and Taiwan, for our mutual benefit. We
are also developing a cooperative education program for
undergraduate and graduate students in Taiwan and the U.S.
Several scholarships have been offered to our students from our
participating universities. I am very pleased with our
progress in this program. Thank you for your continuing
support and participation.
Sincerely, Kuan-Cheng Chen M.C. FACS
