Named a 2008 Best College in the Western Region by the Princeton Review, A Best Western College, The Princeton Review

For the fifth straight year, Cal State San Bernardino received the "Best in the West" designation by the Princeton Review. The magazine's Web site features "2009 Best Colleges: Region by Region." The schools were drawn from the 13 Western States. Princeton Review did not rank among the 120 colleges.

The Princeton Review noted, "Cal State San Bernardino attracts students who are 'very down to earth, pragmatic, and real,' many of which 'have led interesting and challenging lives.' While most hail from Southern California, the similarities end there as the 'population is very mixed in age, ethnicity, socioeconomic background, and religion.'

But in addition, the education services company featured the College of Business and Public Administration in the just-published 2009 edition of its "Best 296 Business Schools."

"We are pleased to recommend CSUSB to readers of our book and users of our Web site as one of the best institutions they could attend to earn an MBA," said Robert Franek, Princeton Review vice president-publishing, "We select schools for this book based on our high regard for their academic programs and offerings, institutional data we collect from the schools, and the candid opinions of students attending them who rate and report on their campus experiences at the schools."

I look forward to working together with you ... in the future.  As for recruiting your students, there is no need to thank our firm.  To be honest, we should thank you and the program for providing such quality students.  I know first hand that CSUSB provides the curriculum necessary so motivated students can become successful C.P.A.s.  In my opinion, I don't think students realize initially upon graduating how prepared they will be for their careers after completing the BA program at CSUSB.  So, once again, I thank you.

See you at Meet the Firms,

Alumnus with B.S. in business administration and an emphasis in finance, Don Kent, was unanimously appointed Treasurer-Tax Collector by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors in October 2008.  "With a mercurial economy and Wall Street so volatile, we're fortunate to have someone who already
knows the office and who can keep it running smoothly during this transition,'' said board Chairman Roy Wilson.  The Treasurer-Tax Collector is an elected position, and Kent will hold the office through the end of an unfilled term -- June 2010.  For more than 11 years, Kent has been directly involved in the daily investment operations of the department’s $5 billion Treasurer’s Pooled Investment Fund. The department collects and deposits over $3 billion in property taxes annually.

Janet Courts

Under the leadership of Janet Courts who heads our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program to provide assistance to low income families, CSUSB received a $33,460 grant from the IRS.  The College of Business & Public Administration was one of the few schools to receive funding.

Group photo of MBA ExecutivesAnother cohort of MBA for Executives graduated this December and were hooded at Commencement Ceremonies on campus.  The cohort has been meeting in downtown San Bernardino, but came to campus for graduation and a reception with faculty and program administrators.  MBA Director Beth Flynn identified "averages" for a class profile:  37 years of age (23 to 53); 42% female; 13.4 years work experience; from non-profit sector 27%; from firms of less than 100 employees 27%; average salary $97,079; partial funding by employer 52%; Federal financial aid through the university 52%; GPA range 3.11 to 3.94; 23% earned Beta Gamma Sigma membership for being in the top 20% of CSUSB MBA students.
