Intern Description:  I need someone who is excited about working in a local firm and has an excellent handle on the fundamentals of accounting and bookkeeping. An interest in tax will be necessary to fill our needs. They must be able to take our client’s financials and apply tax regulations to arrive at the lowest possible tax. We have very few tax audits due to the fact that we try to have an in depth knowledge of the rules which apply to our clients.

Host Qualifications:  Most students will not have experience we are looking for, but they must have a good understanding of the fundamentals of bookkeeping and some exposure to tax. They must understand debits, credits, and journal entries, and how asset, liability, capital, income and expense accounts interact with one another. They should be able to do bank reconciliations, reconcile A/R and A/P per general ledger to the agings, etc.

Computer proficiency with Word and Excel is a must. We can teach accounting and tax software. We don’t want to teach fundamentals of bookkeeping, and we want the candidate to have some exposure to taxes. They should at least understand the concepts of income for wages, interest dividends and deductions such as itemized deductions, and exemptions.  We are looking for a candidate who wants to stay long term.  We want to add to our family.

Intern Description: The Internship Program is designed to provide students with a thorough orientation to international trade. This includes export marketing research, documentation, regulations, shipping, trade show recruitment, export financing and other export related activities. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with international trade professionals, accompany trade specialists on client calls, learn how to research marketing information, access databases (NTDB, USG Export Portal, etc) and participate in telemarketing campaigns. Participation in the Internship Program also requires answering telephone calls concerning export-related questions, assisting walk-in visitors and assisting our office in other administrative duties.

Host Qualifications: Students interested in applying for a position in this program should be studying International Relations, Business Management, Economics, Marketing, or other disciplines related to international business. Candidates must also be U.S. citizens. The program length is 16 hours (2 days) a week for a six-month time period. This is a non-paid internship. Credit is often worked out between the student and the degree granting university. Upon satisfactory completion of the internship program, the student is awarded with the Certificate of Training and a Letter of Recommendation.

Excellent oral, written and communication skills are required. Computer knowledge in programs such as Microsoft Office, Lotus Applications, as well as experience with Internet-based research, are helpful. Student's overall and concentration Grade Point Averages will be considered in the selection process.
