Departmental Honors
Departmental Honors are awarded to students for outstanding achievement within their major course of study. Those who are awarded Departmental Honors are recognized in the graduation program book and are eligible to wear a special honors cord at the university commencement ceremony. Departmental Honors is also noted on the student’s official university transcript.
If you believe that you are eligible to receive Departmental Honors please complete an application form available in the department office (JB 460) and submit it before the due date. For June Graduation you must submit an application before April 15. For December graduation the due date is November 1.
To qualify for Information & Decision Sciences departmental honors, you must meet each of the following:
1. Complete at least FOUR concentration courses.
2. For ALL Administration major courses, earn a 3.5 GPA or better.
3. Satisfy at least ONE of the following:Earn a 3.8 GPA or better for ALL concentration courses
Receive an “A” grade for an Independent Study course developed for Honors consideration. The words “developed for Honors consideration” must appear on the initial Independent Study Contract form, or
Author or co-author an article published in a leading scholarly journal in your area of study.
