Giving Opportunities
| A public university depends on private support as
state funds only provide the basic level of education. Private
gifts help to provide needed resources. They give the University
the flexibility to respond to opportunities, attract and retain
outstanding faculty, staff and students, and enhances educational
programs and resources. A gift to California State University for
the College of Business and Public Administration (CBPA) is an
investment in the future. It is an investment in the next generation…our
future business leaders.
There are many ways that you can support CBPA. Donor opportunities are available for a variety of programs and initiatives. Individuals, businesses and foundations, can provide scholarships and student awards, fund key activities that create opportunities for centers to support not only students, but the community as well, and create linkages for our students for internships and employment opportunities. Our funding priorities for 2008-2009 include: Entrepreneurship Program - To endow the Inland Empire Center
for Entrepreneurship for on-going operational funding to
sustain and build its core programs such as Integrated Technology
Transfer (ITTN) and Woman’s Business Centers (WBC),
thus enabling the nationally-recognized entrepreneurial outreach
program to continue to transform businesses in our region;
to establish an Endowed Chair of Entrepreneurship in the
Department of Management to attract a professor with successful
experience as an entrepreneur and academic credentials. The
Entrepreneurship Program hosts the annual “Spirit of
the Entrepreneur” award. Sponsorship opportunities
and tickets are available. Arrowhead Distinguished Executive Officer Award - Inaugurated in 1990, this event has become the premier recognition for executives in this region, honoring a distinguished CEO or public figure in the Inland region. Sponsorship opportunities and tickets are available. Global Management - To endow a global management center for ongoing operational funding in order to sustain and build core programs that compliment both academic and external programs. To internationalize the CBPA curriculum through joint degrees, expanded international partnerships for joint degrees, faculty/student exchange programs, support for CBPA students to study abroad when the receiving country does not cover expenses; to provide expanded college orientation for international students; to co-sponsor research conferences; to facilitate CBPA international alumni networking; to support export activity; to sustain the Taiwan program. |
Donations make a difference for students… [insert photo of Jason] Jason is 31 years old, works full-time, attends CSUSB, is a
member and officer of Beta Alpha Psi, and is currently listed
for dual lung transplant at UCSD Medical Center. Jason was born
with a genetic disease called Cystic Fibrosis also known as CF.
Despite his medical challenges, he was an active child and teenager
engaging in many athletic activities. In his mid-twenties, however,
the frequency of his infections started to accelerate ..he needed
to rethink his future. He attended community college after high
school and he decided that the accounting profession was for
him. The last year and a half has been his roughest. In order
to graduate in June he had to attend summer session and take
a full load in two split five-week sessions. During the summer
he managed to have sinus surgery missing only two days of class,
attended the Beta Alpha Psi National Conference in Chicago missing
another two days of class, and was hospitalized with a stomach
obstruction caused by CF and missed four days of class. With
everything he had going on, and battling pneumonia, he was still
able to achieve a 3.0 GPA. He is truly an example of how one
can persevere despite obstacles that seem insurmountable. Jason
is an inspiration, and CBPA was so pleased to honor him with
a $500 award. |
Annual Awards Banquet - The Annual Awards Banquet honors outstanding graduate students in every concentration, as well as two graduating students with inspirational backgrounds, and brings together continuing students who are scholarship winners with the donors of their scholarships. Funds provide awards for the outstanding graduate in each concentration as well as invitations, dinner, programs and Foundation fees. Sponsorship opportunities are available and support provides awards to students for academic excellence.
Business Alliance - Business Alliance is the primary point of programmatic connection for CBPA to the community and serves as a pipeline for corporate support to the college. The mission of Business Alliance is to develop and facilitate a partnership between the Inland Empire business community and the College of Business and Public Administration. Its purpose is to provide private and public enterprises with direct access to the College’s vast resources for their growth and development, leading to a more vibrant regional economy.
College Excellence Endowment - The Endowment is designed to ensure competitiveness of the College in attracting top faculty and to provide long-term CBPA stability for on-going economic development of the region.
