Vision Statement

The Department is dedicated to providing a comprehensive education in the functioning and management of goal-directed organizations, meeting or exceeding the standards of our accrediting agencies and the expressed needs of our students, extending from basic theory and operating principles to practical hands-on training in the local business community, including an ongoing awareness of all cultural, legal, social and environmental issues affecting campus, local, national and international business communities.

A Manager's Most Critical Responsibility

A manager's most critical responsibility is to function as a human being within a system of human beings, make decisions, create, lead and serve. In the contemporary organization, humans exist as part of a special relationship that is largely determined by the interplay of personal and organizational goals, whether within individuals, among and between small groups or departments, or throughout the organization as a whole.

The Wall Street Journal recognizes that as companies shrink, they look for generalists-managers with planning, communications and leadership skills-who see the big picture. These are among the skills taught in the management concentration, with specialty areas in general management, human resources, entrepreneurial, environmental, conflict and international management.
