Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (B.A.) with Concentration in Environmental Management:

Upper-division core Requirements (16 units):

  • MGMT-322     Law and Ethics of Environmental Management (4 Credits).
  • MGMT-324     International Environmental Management (4 Credits).
  • MGMT-326     Natural Resource Management (4 Credits).
  • MGMT-428     Environmental Policy & Management (4 Credits).

and eight units of electives chosen from:

  • ECON-360     Economics of the Environment (4 Credits).
  • GEOG-350     Conservation & Natural Resources (4 Credits).
  • HSCI-352       Principles of Environmental Health (4 Credits). (Prereq: College-level course in Biology and HSCI 120)
  • HSCI-451       Principles of Epidemiology (4 Credits). (Prereq: HSCI 120 or consent of instructor)

 

Certificate in Environmental Management
(30 Units)

The Certificate and the Minor will lead to a competency in Environmental Management. The Certificate is designed for regularly matriculated or extended learning students and denotes successful completion of a prescribed program of study of Environmental Management. Given issues such as global warming, air pollution, oil shortages, water scarcity/pollution, the proper disposal of toxic material etc;, it is imperative that our future business leaders understand these critical issues and the proper role of business in effectively managing both current and projected environmental business problems. Successful completion of the courses will demonstrate that the student has mastered the content of the field of Environmental Management, a sub-field of Business Administration.

 

I.                  Lower division requirements (10 units)

      1. BIOL-100       Topics in Biology (5 units)


      2. GEOG-103     Physical Geography (5 units) or GEOL 101

 

II.      Core Courses (16 units)

1.      MGMT-322     Law and Ethics of Environmental Management (4 units)

2.      MGMT-324     International Environmental Management (4 units)

3.      MGMT-326     Natural Resource Management (4 units)

4.      MGMT-428     Environmental Policy and Management (4 units)

 

III.      4 Units Chosen From

      1.    MGMT-335     Business and Society (4 units)

      2.    MGMT-405     International Management (4 units)

      3.    GEOG-350      Conservation and Natural Resources (4 units)

      4.    PA-472            Administrative Law (4 units)

 

Basic Skills Required: English 101 and Math 110 or Math 115.

 

MINOR IN ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT (30 UNITS).

This Minor will lead to a competency in Environmental Management. It is designed for Management and non-Management majors who desire to achieve this competency described above for the certificate.
