Frequently Asked MBA Questions

1. Do I need to take the GMAT before I am accepted into the program?
Generally yes, but if an applicant has a GPA of at least a 3.0 (last 90 quarter units or last 60 semester units) and has at least 6 prerequisites to complete they maybe accepted into the M.B.A. program on a conditional basis. However, the student cannot attend 500 or 600 level MBA courses (except 503 classes) without first submitting a passing GMAT score. (Refer to Admission to the M.B.A. Program.)

2. If I have a GPA below 2.5, can I still be accepted into the M.B.A. Program?
Generally no, but if an applicant attains a GMAT score of 575 or higher and has strong professional work experience, we will consider accepting him or her into the program.

3. Do I need to submit the resume and letter of recommendation with my application?
Unless you have professional work experience which you want us to consider, a resume is not necessary. We encourage, however, submitting three letters of recommendation from employers, former employers or professors.

4. How many classes are in the M.B.A. program?
Not counting any prerequisite classes, the program is 48-quarter units, equivalent to twelve classes. Seven are broad-based and five are electives in one concentration.

5. Is there a thesis, project or comprehensive exam?
All MBA students must complete the following:

A. ADMN 995
Outcomes Assessment Portfolio (0 units)

In addition, all MBA students must complete either ADMN 998 Comprehensive Project OR ADMN 999 Comprehensive Examination:

B. ADMN 998
Comprehensive Project (0 Units)

In consultation with a faculty advisor, completion and defense of a written project based on his or her concentration before a committee of graduate faculty.

C. ADMN 999
