Intern Title: International Business Internships in Commercial Svce
Intern Description: The Internship Program is designed to provide students with a thorough orientation to international trade. This includes export marketing research, documentation, regulations, shipping, trade show recruitment, export financing and other export related activities. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with international trade professionals, accompany trade specialists on client calls, learn how to research marketing information, access databases (NTDB, USG Export Portal, etc) and participate in telemarketing campaigns. Participation in the Internship Program also requires answering telephone calls concerning export-related questions, assisting walk-in visitors and assisting our office in other administrative duties.
Host Qualifications: Students interested in applying for a position in this program should be studying International Relations, Business Management, Economics, Marketing, or other disciplines related to international business. Candidates must also be U.S. citizens. The program length is 16 hours (2 days) a week for a six-month time period. This is a non-paid internship. Credit is often worked out between the student and the degree granting university. Upon satisfactory completion of the internship program, the student is awarded with the Certificate of Training and a Letter of Recommendation.
Excellent oral, written and communication skills are required. Computer knowledge in programs such as Microsoft Office, Lotus Applications, as well as experience with Internet-based research, are helpful. Student's overall and concentration Grade Point Averages will be considered in the selection process.
